DPF FAILURE – DIESEL FLEET SOLUTIONS NORCAL
- Premature DPF failure is destroying your profitability
- You can improve your aftertreatment and DPF efficiency in about 15 minutes
- This simple solution is LEGAL and pays for itself almost instantly
Managing today’s emission compliant heavy duty fleets is a challenge. Rapid changes to requirements has left many fleet managers reeling just trying to stay compliant and find ways to afford required fleet upgrades. Meanwhile, new trucks are breaking down more often than older pre-emission trucks. These ongoing repairs are often met with shrugged shoulders by the Dealership as they put you in the long line up of other broken trucks waiting for diagnostics.
If this dance sounds all to familiar, and you are frustrated by it as a fleet manager, then it is time to take the 15 minute challenge.
15 Mins to Fix Your DPF Failure
This isn’t just rhetoric. This is a promise. In less than 15 minutes Diesel Fleet Solutions can help you improve how your aftertreatment system works. Once it can work properly, DPF issues will be reduced drastically, and reliability will improve. This is done in a very simple, legal way that actually just follows your manufacturer recommendations.
This solution is so simple, in fact, that you won’t believe it has been right in front of your eyes this whole time. And you won’t believe how quick and easy it is to do.
Why Does My Cummins DPF Plug Up?
To understand the solution, you need to first understand the problem. The DPF is designed to trap pollutants before they exit the exhaust. These pollutants build up on the DPF filter, which causes back pressure to increase in your aftertreatment system. As pressure increases, the ECM is supposed to initiate a “passive” regen. A regen is the process of the aftertreatment system creating high amounts of heat to burn the pollutants off of the DPF filter. A complete and proper regen clears the DPF and reduces restriction. DPF failure occurs because your system is unable to generate a complete and proper regen.
Additionally, your aftertreatment system is so expensive to maintain because it is not designed to withstand the constant backpressure created by a constantly dirty DPF filter. As the DPF plugs, the turbo and EGR and other components are working overtime. This causes these components to also fail prematurely. DPF failure is actually systemic aftertreatment failure.
When working properly, your Cummins DPF filter should be achieving at least 200,000 miles, depending on application. The 2016 ISX15 is supposed to get 500,000 miles in a line haul application! If you are not meeting the manufacturer recommended cleaning intervals, then it is time to take the 15 minute DPF challenge.
How Do I Fix My DPF?
You need to program your ECM properly, according to manufacturer recommendations. This will allow the aftertreatment system to finally work as designed and keep the DPF clean. The applications that have the most problems with this are in the vocational field. Stop-and-go, delivery, refuse, etc…however, the problem also exists in over-the-road. Diesel Fleet Solutions provides the information, training, and support to empower fleets to properly manage emission compliant trucks. Our consulting program teaches you the nuances of modern diesel fleet maintenance, and gives you actionable and legal solutions to the most common problems. It starts with ECM programming.
